The timeline in FCP cannot follow the playhead?

After I press "Play" in FCP, and my project begins to play... I can see the playhead crawling along from left to right. As it gets to the far right of the timeline, I expect the timeline to also begin to crawl along with the playhead, so that you can see all your clips, titles, and edits coming up. But... it doesn't. The playhead just disappears off the screen.

When I hit the spacebar, it does jump in time to recenter the playhead. But... is there really no way for FCP to "jog" along with the playhead?

If there is not a way to set this to happen, has Apple ever published a reason as to why this is not an option? I know that FCP is a very mature product. So, there must be SOME philosophical reason for why FCP does things this way? I feel like a doofus using the hand tool to shove along the timeline as I'm watching my playback.
