After 13.2.1 Ventura upgrade connecting to Mac mini no longer possible

I upgraded today to 13.2.1 Ventura and now I cannot any longer connect from my MBP to my Mac mini (2018) on my local wired network (screen sharing still works).

I have two MBP’s in my network and neither can connect to the Mac mini anymore.  On both it all worked fine before the update.

The Mac mini can connect to the 2 MBP’ on the network.

Any ideas?

I am not sure if this is the way to go. See If I open the window I do not get a choice as to how I log in if I click on "Connect As" to get to the device. Which is what you normally get. So I would not be able to log in as a different user.

If you haven't already, try restarting all devices including your network.

That i did and it did not help.

thanks Brittany1416

Did you see I wrote that it worked fine for ever till I ran the upgrade?

As to your questions.

Nothing happens for a while, after I click this:

sometimes a kind of wheel spins and next see pic.

2. If you do receive an error, what does the error say?

see pic above.

as said it worked for years. And yes my first port of call was to check all that.

Remember screen sharing works as should.

You can connect by either browsing or entering the computer’s or server’s network address. See Find your computer’s name and network address.

and I get the same error.

Any ideas what is going on here?

Hi ChangeAgent,

Thank you for letting us know more.

To help us get a better understanding of the issue, we’d like to ask a few questions.

1. What exactly happens when you try to connect your other devices to your Mac mini now? Have you received any specific errors?

2. If you do receive an error, what does the error say?

The above details will help us plan how to proceed.

Please also check out the information in the following link on how to connect your Mac to shared computers and servers and ensure the correct process is being used, so we can make sure there aren't any issues there: Connect your Mac to shared computers and servers

Connect your Mac to shared computers and servers

You can connect to shared computers and file servers on your network, including Mac and Windows computers that have file sharing turned on, and servers that use protocols such as SMB.

You can connect by either browsing or entering the computer’s or server’s network address. See Find your computer’s name and network address.

Connect to a computer or server by browsing

1. On your Mac, click the Finder icon  in the Dock to open a Finder window, then click Network in the Locations section of the sidebar.

If no items appear in the Locations section of the sidebar, hold the pointer over the word Locations, then click the arrow .

2. In the Finder window, double-click the computer you want to connect to, then click Connect As.

If you’re connecting to a Mac that has screen sharing turned on, and you have the appropriate privileges, you can also click Share Screen.

3. Select how you want to connect to the Mac:

• Guest: You can connect as a Guest user if the shared computer permits guest access.
• Registered User: Connect to the other Mac using a valid login name and password. If “Only these users” is selected on the other Mac, make sure the login name you’re using is on the list of allowed users.
• Using an Apple ID: Connect to the other Mac using an Apple ID. You must be set up in Users & Groups settings with this Apple ID, on both this Mac and the other Mac.

4. If necessary, enter your user name and password, then select volumes or shared folders on the server.

In some cases you need the network area or workgroup for the shared computer. If you don’t have this information, contact the computer’s owner or your network administrator.

Tip: To make it easier to connect to the computer in the future, select “Remember this password in my keychain” to add your user name and password for the computer to your Keychain.

Thanks!

Since the issue persists, we recommend reaching out to Apple Support to look into this with you further: Get Support

...and since Apple support is Russian roulette at times the call was not helpful. I was unlucky and had a person not listening to my explanation and what i had treid and proceeded with reading me from a handbook with the usual solutions I had tried. 0 points indeed.

I have tried restarting all devices. Tried connection with wifi and with an internet cable. The interconnectivity between my three Macs has gone. There is something seriously wrong with the latest update. If you haven't upgraded wait until Apple have sorted the issue.

Not sure if you have the same problem as I did as your post does not tell me enough. however, here is how I solved my problem. You will need an application/way that allows you to login remotely to the Mac. I used TeamViewer as it is free to use. Install on both machines. Now log in that way and click your file-sharing button to off. Or if you use Remote Management that one. Reboot. Log in again and switched what you switched off on again and it should work. At least it did for me.

Wishing you success.
