iOS 16.3.1 Update: Lost Lots of Bookmarks in Safari

Not sure what happened, but a lot of my bookmarks disappeared. They were there the night before the update, then the morning after they were gone. Bookmarks that have been there since I had gotten the phone (about two years ago) were still there, but any that I have made in the past few months up to almost a year are just gone. I tried looking into iCloud, but it states I only can recover two bookmarks that I had personally deleted. It's almost like the other bookmarks never existed. Is there a way for me to get my bookmarks back, or am I going to have to do it all manually?

Hello madviner2015,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

If your bookmarks were synced with iCloud, these steps should help:

"When you restore an earlier version, your current version is first archived in iCloud so if you change your mind, you can go back to it.

  1. On iCloud.com, click the App Launcher button in the toolbar, then click Data Recovery.
  2. Click Restore Bookmarks.
  3. You can sort available bookmarks by Date Deleted, Name, or Folder.
  4. To the right of the version you want to restore, click Restore.
  5. There may be more versions than can be displayed. Scroll to see them all.
  6. Note: Wait until iCloud finishes restoring your Safari bookmarks and Reading List before you change them. During the restore process, any changes you make aren’t saved."

More details can be found here: Restore your Safari bookmarks and Reading List on iCloud.com

If the issue persists, can you provide a few more details? Also, are your bookmarks showing up on any other devices?

Cheers!
