How do I recover lost bookmarks on an iPad?

Just updated to iOS 16.3 on my iPad 7th gen. and lost most of my favorites. How do I recover the lost bookmarks?

Tried this method prior to getting on this site, unfortunately didn’t work. Only retrieved the ones I deleted. Not only were over half of the favorites Lost when going to iOS 16.3, but what remaining were not in the order originally saved. It was like shuffling a deck of cards, then over half the cards disappear, the remaining ones are in no order. Ridiculous.

Hello Aznadif,

Let's make sure that the Safari option is enabled under the Settings > [your name] > iCloud menu. You may need to tap the Show All option to see the Safari entry. That may help if you were syncing your bookmarks with iCloud previously.

If needed, you can also restore your Safari bookmarks on iCloud.com using the steps below:

1. On iCloud.com, click the App Launcher button in the toolbar, then click Data Recovery.
2. Click Restore Bookmarks.
You can sort available bookmarks by Date Deleted, Name, or Folder.
3. To the right of the version you want to restore, click Restore.
There may be more versions than can be displayed. Scroll to see them all.

Note: Wait until iCloud finishes restoring your Safari bookmarks and Reading List before you change them. During the restore process, any changes you make aren’t saved.

You can also find those steps in this resource: Restore your Safari bookmarks and Reading List on iCloud.com - Apple Support

Hopefully that puts you on the path to reinstating your bookmarks.

Take care.
