Above is the previous discussion, so I would like to try and make if clear what this scenario is, and a workaround in Ventura 13.2.1. (By the way linking an email by dropping it into a previously created event used to work in Calendar under Mojave 10.14.6! not sure on later OS's before Ventura)
I've talked in depth with Apple and they told me they have taken out the ability to drop an email message into your previously created event within Calendar, however you can drag your email from your Apple Mail into Calendar directly and make a new Event, which will include a link to your email. Other things like dropping in a PDF file or URL, etc, still works as before.
Can't imagine why they would take out the ability to drop an email from Apple Mail into a previously created event in Calendar?
