Blocked mail going to junk, not the trash

My mail preferences are set to send blocked emails directly to the trash. However, all of my blocked senders are going to my junk mail instead, which requires that I go in and delete each of them every day. Is this the intention? It seems to me that if I have marked the sender as blocked, then the setting should send them to the trash, not my junk mail. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, does anyone have a solution?

Greetings dcpinnc,

The following article states, “When you block an email address from Mail, it goes to the trash folder.” - Block phone numbers, contacts, and emails on your iPhone or iPad

Let’s double check that the email addresses in question are indeed showing on the block list. Go to Settings > Mail. Under Threading, tap Blocked. Are the blocked emails appearing here? If not, could it be that they’ve been marked as junk, but not blocked?

Thanks.
