IPadOS File (iCloud Drive) persistent icon

Hi there.

I couldn't find online, any explanation regarding a strange icon that appears next to my iCloud Drive. The files are synchronized so I can't understand what this icon wants to report to me.

I’ve restarted my iPad many times and also logged out and logged in to my iCloud account but this icon is always there.

My other devices, my iMac and my iPhone, don’t show it and seems to be perfectly synchronized.

So, what’s the meaning of the icon?

This is the icon, any suggestions?

Hello aferrante,

The circular arrows you're seeing usually are indicators that the iPad is syncing. You can see this info here: Learn the meaning of the iPad status icons - Apple Support.

Syncing. iPad is syncing with your computer. See Sync supported content.

That being said, if there is an exclamation point, this will usually indicate there is a problem with completing the sync. Have you tapped on the icon to see if it offers further guidance about the issue? If not, try that.

Also, make sure your iPadOS software is up-to-date; Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support. The update process can frequently address unexpected software behavior.

Hi ryane77,

thank you for your kind reply.

I am aware of the meaning of that icon.

My request was about the strange combination of the exclamation point with it.

I knew its presence indicates one (or more) issue with the synchronization process, but I couldn't find any because all the folders and files were synced correctly.

Touching it does not show any additional information.

I am now in the process of logging out of my iCloud account on my iPad and redoing the syncing process from the beginning.

I'll let you know if everything goes well.
