Recovered Message folders keep showing up in Mail

Using Mail in Monterey. I keep finding folders named Recovered Messages in "On my Mac" that have no content. I delete them, but they continue to show up. How can I stop this?

Hi we04ndy,

We appreciate you reaching out to us.

We’d like to gather additional details that may help us be in a better position to assist you.

Does it help if you restart your Mac before deleting the Recovered Messages folder? Shut down or restart your Mac - Apple Support

If no, please try the steps below.

  • "If Mail moved messages to the Recovered Messages mailbox when it updated your email library after a macOS upgrade, drag the messages into another mailbox.
  • If messages from a specific mailbox are repeatedly moved to the Recovered Messages mailbox, rebuild that specific mailbox."

You can use the article below as a reference.

If messages are in a Recovered Messages mailbox in Mail on Mac - Apple Support

If the issue persists, please try the steps above while on safe mode.

Safe mode does a basic check of your startup disk, similar to using First Aid in Disk Utility.

Performing this step may help resolve the issue, or further isolate the issue.

Below is an article to help guide you through the process.

How to use safe mode on your Mac

Take care!
