Clear Safari history on childs phone

I was testing to see if my child could view inappropriate websites and now I cannot clear the history on their phone.

I have tried doing what is posted in a few other threads but does not seem to work.

How can I clear the Safari browsing history from a child's phone? I set up parental controls on my little brother's Iphone and Ipad at the request of my mom. To make sure it was working the way it's supposed to, I opened Safari and searched an explicit word. The search results were blocked, which is great, but the search itself was still in the browsing history and when I started to type a word with the same first letter the explicit word came up. I obviously don't want the explicit word to come up every time he tries to search a word with the same starting letter, because then that word will be in his face every time and that defeats the purpose. The "clear" button is grayed out since content restrictions are turned on, so how can I get rid of the search history?

Child is able to delete search history even with restrictions Ever since my child’s phone was updated to IOS 17, he has been able to delete search history in safari. Before IOS 17 he was never able to delete search history but as soon as the new update released he has been able to delete everything. The “clear search history” button on the bottom right is still greyed out, but he is able to swipe left on anything that was searched and it will permanently delete. I even tried putting parental controls onto my own phone to test it out on another device and it did the exact same thing, I could swipe left and delete the search history. I was wondering if this is just a glitch/bug, or if it was intended with the IOS 17 update? Any info would be appreciated!

How to: Clear the history and cookies from Safari on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Eg: says:

go to Settings > Safari, and tap Clear History and Website Data.
