Mac Mini M1 Screen flickering

I have been having trouble on my second monitor. It would keep on flickering.

Now the problem seems to be solved.

I lowered the refresh rate for the second screen (144 -> 60). I don't see the flicker any more.

The current setup is:

Main monitor is LG 27GL850 1440p (for some reason there is no option to set refresh rate for this one)

Second monitor is ASUS VG279 1080p (changed to 60 Hz)

Hope reducing the fresh rate helps for other experiencing the same problem.

Just created this new thread because I couldn't post reply to the other ones.

As I understand it, the new M1 doesn't connect well to other monitors and never has. The only way to fix this is to downgrade to Monterrey, but it's not possible on my machine. Apple is aware of the problem but shows no signs of fixing it yet. Hopefully they will do a massive recall or update the new OS X so designers like me will be able to enjoy their new laptops.

Until then, i'll be trying to sell the M1 and purchase an older intel that works properly. It was a big setback for me as a designer. I'm recommending nobody buy either M1 or M2 laptops at this time.

Thanks for sharing what fixed the flickering problem in your setup.

Out of curiosity, how do you have each of those displays connected to the M1 Mac mini?

The display on the HDMI port, would do better on a short Premium Certified HDMI cable instead of using the manufactures supplied HDMI cable.

The display on the USB-C port, would be better on a USB-C to DisplayPort 4K cable instead of a USB-C to HDMI adapter and the manufactures supplied HDMI cable.

I not here trying to sell Premium Certified HDMI cables or a USB-C to DisplayPort 4K cable. Just trying to share how much they can improve your overall experience.
