new guided access bug: disabled areas disappear upon re-entry

With the new IOS, there is a bug using guided access with my daughter's ipad mini, which we use in landscape mode. Guided access can be turned on a first time. However, if you exit guided access and then re-enter it, the disabled areas on the screen disappear. This obviously defeats the purpose of guided access. In order to get the disabled areas back, you have to exit guided access once AGAIN, and either re-create or move around the disabled areas you created, then hit resume. However, they will disappear again the next time you exit and re-enter.

This may not sound like that big a deal as there is a workaround, but it's very problematic for us as my daughter uses her ipad to speak and necessitates very frequent changes to her speech app throughout the day, with many different teachers/therapists, too many with too little time to work around this bug all day long. when the areas on the screen are not disabled, my daughter can too easily delete and do real damage to the hundreds of buttons carefully programmed on that app.

Hello kal816,

To resolve your issue, we'd recommend restarting your iPad using the steps here: Restart your iPad - Apple Support that are also below.

" How to restart an iPad without a Home button

  1. Press and hold either volume button and the top button until the power off slider appears.

2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.

3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the top button until you see the Apple logo.

If the issue still occurs, then we'd recommend checking for possible updates and processing them by completing the steps listed here: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support that are also below.

" Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly

  1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
  2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
  3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
  4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
  5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do. "

Best regards.
