Icon for Alias' not showing on Dock

? I think it is safe to say it be a glitch in the upgrade process, yes. It is not a perfect science.

Downloads and Documents should already be on the Dock by default

Use folders in the Dock on Mac - Apple Support

If they have been removed, add them back: Control click on the folder...

If you have an issue Remove the corrupt/problematic alias's and add them back in

If you put an Alias on the dock, when you click it it actually opens the destination folder in a finder window; much more useful that when happens when you just "add to dock".

I always use Option Command when clicking— this goes straight to the destination folder in Finder (?)

Rather than creating an Alias and adding the Alias to the dock, I have always dragged the Documents folder itself, NOT an Alias, to the distal part of the Dock and had it stick there.
