Homepod 2nd gen uneven stereo pair

So I got two 2nd Gen HomePods set up as a stereo pair. However, the volume seems to be uneven with the right speaker most of the time sounding much louder than the left. At lower volumes, the left doesn’t even produce any sound. When I switched the placement on the Home app and made the right speaker as the left, the left speaker then gets louder. I returned the speaker and got a new one but that didn’t change anything. I've power cycled and I’ve reseted the speakers and that also didn’t change anything. Placement of the speakers doesn't seem to fix the problem either. Any ideas on what I should do?

Made absolutely the same experience with my 2nd gen HomePods. Restarted and reset them many times, iOS/macOS and HomePods on the latest software and the two HomePods still deliver uneven volume. At low volumes the left one sounds louder, at medium volumes the right one. Below a certain threshold, one doesn't sound at all.

On top of that, it took me many hours the get the HomedPods working since they were stuck in configuration seemingly forever. BTW Same experience with a couple of minis.

Home App on iOS displays the HomePods as a stereo pair and that's what they sound like. Mac's Home App though shows them as individual speakers.

My conclusion: Apple's Home Kit/Home App experience is FUBAR. Anybody at Apple hearing me?? Although the Home Pods sound great, the experience with setup and running them daily is ABSOLUTELY disappointing. I can't recommend them.
