Brother Computer

Having issues connecting my Brother DCP - 7065DN printer to work. After I tried to upgrade from macOS Monterey 12.6.3 to Ventura but my M1 MacBook has had issues starting up. The status bar will only go 50% of the way and get stuck there. So Apple support sent me to the Genius Bar and their solution was to reset the MacBook and restart from my backup. But every time I try to upgrade to the Ventura macOS the same status bar situation happens all over again.

So now I am working in macOS Monterey and I am not able to get my Brother printer to work both on the network and USB. What are my options at this point for both being unable to upgrade and printer problem

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 12.6

Hello FloClaire,

This page can provide some helpful suggestions for resolving issues with printing on the Mac: Solve printing problems on Mac - Apple Support

If you’re having trouble printing, first try these suggestions:
•If your printer is connected to your Mac, make sure the printer cable is firmly connected, and the printer is plugged into an electrical outlet, and turned on.

•If the printer is on the network, make sure your Mac and the printer are still on the same network, the printer is turned on, and the network isn’t experiencing problems. If the network has multiple printers, check which printer you chose—it may be different from the one you think you chose.

•If you use a shared printer connected to another Mac, make sure the Mac has macOS 10.5 or later installed, isn’t in sleep, and has sharing turned on. See Share your printer.

•If your printer is connected to your computer’s USB port, open System Information, then click USB. If the printer’s name appears in the hardware list but the printer doesn’t work, review the printer’s documentation for further troubleshooting information or see If a USB device doesn’t work with Mac.
If you still can’t print, see the additional troubleshooting information below.

If the above suggestions haven't helped, the page will help to cover the following with additional info on each step available on the site:

1. Try to resume printing
2. Try to print from another app
3. Turn off Print Dialog Extensions
4. Check the printer
5. Add the printer again to create a new printer queue
6. Make sure you have the latest software

Cheers.

Hello FloClaire,

Thanks for checking the troubleshooting provided. Since Brother only has the driver up to 10.15, and we do not see it on the list here: About AirPrint - Apple Support

Then you will need to verify from the manufacturer if it supports macOS Ventura and/or the M1 processor.

It's possible they have another update, need time to provide an update, or they stopped providing updates for that older model. Only the manufacturer will know: Contact a third-party vendor - Apple Support

Thanks.

Thank you Eric_G1 for the detailed response. I pretty much took care of the first two suggestions. However when I went to the brother support site for my printer, they only have up to macOS 10.15. I downloaded that driver and when I tried to upload it I got an error message. See attached. At this point I can not go any further without the print driver uploading.
