Does the Late 2014 Mac mini Have a Boot Order?

I’ve got a Late 2014 Mac mini that boots from the Apple PCIe 250 GB SSD that’s mounted on the top of the hard disk carrier. Currently, it’s the only drive in the mini. I’m thinking of mounting an SSD with Monterey installed in the hard disk carrier that’s currently empty. I’d boot from this second drive strictly for trouble shooting purposes, if needed.

So, my question is, does the mini have a boot order where it may try to boot from the SSD that’s mounted in the hard disk carrier first and then look to the Apple PCIe SSD, or will it continue to boot from the Apple PCIe SSD unless/until I change the Startup Disk selection in System Preferences?

Mac mini, macOS 12.6

Once you have the second drive installed in the computer, you can designate the normal boot drive by going to System Preferences > Startup Disk. There you select the preferred boot drive. Anytime you wish to boot from the other, you can boot while pressing the Option key and selecting the drive you wish at that moment.
