Screen Sharing not working on Ventura 13.2

I had configured Screen Sharing on my Mac Mini M1 to connect with my mobile devices (iPad) using VNC Viewer, it was working perfectly until updating to Ventura 13.2, now it wont work.


The error VNC Viewer throws is: "The connection attempt timed out."


I also have File Sharing turned on.


I tried, turning off/on, off/restarting/on, off/shutdown/turn-on/on, nothing works.

Are there any other ideas?

Oh, this was from multiple computers/software, realvnc shows an error, but this happens with:

  • Screen Sharing
  • Real VNC Viewer


And both actually connect if I do the following (and just once):

(I am on the thread about SMB not working so I followed similar steps to some of the solutions they found)

  • turn off SMB file sharing
  • turn off Screen Sharing
  • Delete "\Library\Preferences\SystemConfiguration\com.apple.smb.server.plist" (and other VNC related files)
  • restart
  • Turn on Screen Sharing


I managed to connect (with Screen Sharing on another mac and RealVNC Viewer on the iPad) , then it again, stops working after a few minutes.

You've done some great troubleshooting so far on this issue. From here, we advise that you work on the app itself which might be causing this behavior. Try checking with the app manufacturer to see if there are any compatibility updates available to make this work with your newest macOS update again.
