Screen sharing still not working when the firewall is active.

This problem seems to have started with an update to 12.4. From what I have read, this problem only affects M1/M2 Macs not Intel Macs. The problem is I can't screen share with between my 2 M1 Macs when the firewall is turned on. This is despite the fact the firewall has a rule to allow screen sharing. I hoped that upgrading both Macs to Ventura would fix this problem. It didn't. To see the original thread on this problem, go here. Firewall is blocking Screen Sharing - Apple Community

The application firewall is notorious for blocking normal services, especially screen sharing. There are many posts here that discuss the same or similar problem caused by the application firewall, and I don't remember ever seeing any solution other than turning it off.

You can continue to live in your fantasy world where the application firewall actually does something useful when you are already protected by the "firewall" of your NAT router, but if you actually think you need a true firewall, there are several true and useful firewalls in unix, packet filter (pf) is installed in macOS.
