iPad Pro 11-inch WiFi + Cellular model not giving 5G in India

Hello, I recently bought an iPad Pro 11-inch WiFi+Cellular version with 128GB storage. I inserted Jio SIM [Physical] in the slim slot. Jio supports 5G network in my area and I got to know that iPad Pro does support 5G functionality.

However, I'm still getting LTE network and it's not even asking me to change it to 5G network in the Mobile Data menu in Settings.

Wanted to know how can I use 5G in my iPad.

Sure, I’ll check with Jio for this. However, I stumbled upon a support page that 5G isn’t supported in India on iPads. Not sure if it’s not updated as 5G has already started rolling out in India. Is it like the iPhones where Apple had to turn the switch on for 5G through an OTA update?

The majority of mobile phone SIMs are not correctly provisioned for use with tablet computers. If they work at all, they may not provide access to the full range of cellular services. This is not a limitation of the iPad, but of the Cellular network provider.

If using a physical SIM with iPad, you will require a DataSIM explicitly provisioned for iPad or mobile broadband (a.k.a. MiFi). A compatible SIM must be explicitly enabled for 5G if required. You would be best advised to contact your chosen Cellular Service Provider for assistance.

Be aware that an iPad, whether a Cellular model or not, is not capable of directly accessing Cellular Voice or SMS/MMS Messaging features. An iPad with either WiFi or Cellular connectivity alone can only access IP-data services. If you have added a DataSIM and Cellular plan to a WiFi+Cellular model of iPad, the number associated with the SIM card is only used to identify your account for billing purposes. This number is not used for making calls or sending messages.
