Shared folder disappeared from all devices

Both I and my wife have iCloud accounts. I created a folder in my account and shared it with her email address/account. She has several Apple devices and normally the shared folder shows up under iCloud Drive (path iCloud Drive/Shared). Everything has always worked until yesterday.

Yesterday, the "iCloud Drive/Shared" folder disappeared from ALL her devices. I still see it in my iCloud Drive, with all its contents, and it still shows as being shared with her.

Initially it looked like the folder was completely gone, and this highly troubling regarding the reliability of iCloud Drive.

Since on my end iCloud Drive still thinks the folder is shared, I can't re-share it, and am hesitant to take any action lest the folder disappear for good. I'm making a full backup of the 12GB in a local folder on my computer, but given that only about 10% is locally cached this is going to take 7-8 hours.

How do I recover from this.

We understand you're having some issues sharing some files. We know it's important for file sharing to be working correctly and we can help you keep your data.

If you're concerned about a file being lost, we recommend copying it elsewhere first.

One option to try is to attempt to remove the file from sharing then share it again.

Stop sharing files or folders

You must be the owner of the shared file or folder to stop sharing it.

1. In iCloud Drive on iCloud.com, select the file or folder.

2. Click , then do one of the following:

- Stop sharing with all participants: Click Share Options, then click Stop Sharing.

- Stop sharing with just one participant: Hold the pointer over the person’s name, then click and choose Remove Access.

If you stop sharing or delete a shared folder, the participants can no longer view or edit the files in the folder.

To stop sharing a file in a shared folder without changing the folder settings, you can move the file to a folder you haven’t shared.
