Mac mini 2012 later model using my iMac 2022 as a monitor

Trying to use my iMac 2022 as a monitor for my Mac mini 2012 later model. Love the Mac mini and still want to continue to use it along with my new iMac. I tried connecting them with a thunderbolt 2 cable and a thunderbolt 3 to thunderbolt 2 connector. After pressing command F2 nothing happens. Tried command fn F2 and still nothing.
