Can not invite family member to home app on iOS 16.3

After the iOS 16.2 update none of the accessories in my wife's phone would work but they would work on my phone. Due to this we decided to delete my wife from the home and see if re-inviting her would work. However, every time I send her an invite she does not get a notification. We contacted apple support and they told me to restart my phone, reboot all HomePods, etc., but none of the troubleshooting worked.


iOS 16.3 was released and both of us updated our phones hoping it will fix the issue. It did not. Every time I send her an invite she still does not receive a notification to join, and she does not see an invitation in the home app.


I have also tried sending an invite to another family member and they did not receive it as well.


Is anyone else having issues or knows how to fix this?

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities. We understand you're having trouble inviting a family member to the Home app. This article has some steps that may help: If you can't access a home or accept an invitation in the Home app.

  1. On the invited user's iPhone or iPad running iOS or iPadOS version 16.2, open the Home app and tap the More button  to see a list of homes.
  2. On the invited user's iPhone or iPad, remove homes that don't have accessories. Tap a home to select it, tap the More button , select Home Settings , scroll down, and tap Remove Home. If the invited user has a home with accessories, contact Apple Support.
  3. Restart the invited user's and home owner's iPhone or iPad, and restart all Apple TV and HomePoddevices in the home.
  4. On the home owner's iPhone or iPad, open the Home app and remove any pending invitations to the invited user. Tap the More button , select Home Settings , tap the guest's name, and tap Cancel Invitation.
  5. Resend the invitation to share control of the home to the invited user.

Make sure the invited user accepts the invitation within 3 hours or the invitation expires. If the invitation expires, complete steps 3-5 again.
