Unable to use FaceTime

I wonder if getting a message that reads:

"Choose Another Phone Number or Email Address to Call (Contact Name).

(123) 456-7890 in the contact card is not available for FaceTime",

has to do my phone or the phone of the person I'm trying to reach. I was OK to do so until just a couple of days ago when this message started to pop-up. I tried deleting and inputting the contact's info, resetting my phone, tuning on-off FaceTime but nothing works. I noticed the information for that particular contact doesn't show the FaceTime option where the information list is at. It only shows the phone number. That contact does not have an email either.

Hi elchicali13

Welcome to the Apple (user-to-user) Community

Wondering if you are trying to contact an Android user with FaceTime on iPhone.

Seems Android phones generally need to be contacted using cellular data.

FaceTime uses wi-fi.

Now there's a way to send an online link so they can join a FaceTime call.

See: Use FaceTime with your iPhone or iPad – Apple Support

Scroll down to:

Create a link to a FaceTime call

With iOS 15, iPadOS 15 and later, you can create a link to a FaceTime call and send the link to others using Messages or Mail. They can use the link to join or initiate a call. (See the steps to follow in the above article.)

Hope this helps :-)
