Apple Maps Freezes on iPhone

Ive used and relied on maps for years for work and travel. Lately it freezes with the interface no matter what vehicle. The directions come up but the map stays in the expanded position and doesn't change or turn.

Also when I set a scenic back road route it reverts back to a highway route even though a scenic route was chosen. I hate to say it Waze and Google maps have been more reliable and easier to interface with my vehicles.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you are noticing an issue with when using the Maps app please be sure to try each troubleshooting step listed in the following Apple Support article first: If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open


1. Close and reopen the app
Force the app to close. Then open the app to see if it works as expected.
 
2. Restart your device
Restart your iPhone or restart your iPad. Then open the app to see if it works as expected.
 
3. Check for updates
To see if updates are available for the app, open the App Store, tap your profile icon, then scroll down to see if updates are available. If updates aren't available for the app, update the software on your iPhone or iPad.
 
4. Delete the app, then redownload it
Delete the app. When you do this, you might lose data that was stored in the app. Then redownload the app. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed.


If you’d like to see certain features of the apps improved, you can send feedback directly to Apple using this link: Feedback - Maps for iOS and iPadOS


If you are noticing that other apps do not rotate with your device as expected, please be sure that Orientation Lock is disabled: Rotate the screen on your iPhone or iPod touch
