After upgrading to Ventura 13.1, my inbox disappears whenever I close Mail. When I reopen then only folder with something in it is the trash. I am missing many emails I was keeping. How do I recover those? How do I fix my Mail program to work correctly again?

Do you ever see your inbox?
If you close the window with the red pill button— don't
You can quit mail from the drop down or Command Q
If you did closed the window— from Mail>Window>New message viewer

So, I still have the actual Inbox. I just don't have any of the emails that were in the Inbox before I closed Mail. Once I read an email and then close Mail, I will lose that email. It will be gone the next time I open Mail.

A - So we know that they are not missing / lost, just not showing up in Mail as the user is expecting.
A - Then, it is suggested to review all the steps from @leroydouglas in above posting.
Log into the Web Portal of your e-mail Server account.
Example; using Yahoo as Mail Server - go to yahoo.com, using Outlook go Outlook.com, etc. etc.
Are the Missing e-mail still appearing there ?
