New HomePod BBC sounds support

Will the new £299 HomePod be able to play BBC Radio stand-alone ie not in dumb Bluetooth mode connected to a phone but understand my request and work out of the box?

I think the answer is no because Apple and the BBC are not talking to each other and sulking, so we end up with adverts on the BBC saying just say open BBC sounds on your smart speaker and guess what - it doesn’t work on HomePod - the most basic thing!
