HomePod now playing adverts via Tune-In?

Until about a week ago, asking my HomePod to "play radio station XYZ" would respond with: "Now playing XYZ via Tune-In", and then play the stream.

Asking the same thing now responds with, "Now playing XYZ via Tune-In," then plays a little "ding-dong, Tune-In" ditty, then plays about a minute of adverts before it gets to the stream.

To be honest, I don't think this is acceptable, and there doesn't seem to be any way of turning it off. Unless you guys know how?

Other than AirPlaying from my phone to the HomePod (which isn't always doable since it's not always with me or in the same room), what can I do?
