iPadOS 16.2 keyboard pop-up covers Message text when "share via" with photo or website attached.

Has anyone else encountered this issue since updating to iPadOS 16.2? When sharing a link (from a website, or the Apple News App) or a photo: Each time I attach the item via the “Share via button”, and try to add some text under it in the same message the keyboard pops up and covers the dialog box where the message typically appears while you type. This means that you have to type blind, then tap on the message box to see what you typed. If you made an error you have to insert the cursor… which causes the keyboard to pop up, and you now have to make your corrections “blind” as well. You also have to tap the dialog box to get out of the keyboard again to send the message because the keyboard covers the send button. I’ve tried rotating my iPad Pro to landscape and there is no change. This only occurs when using the “send via” to the Messages app. In the previous iPadOS release, 16.1, this was not an issue. I thought that perhaps it was the new “stage manager” feature, but I’ve tried it in all variations including “full screen” with the same result. Does this happen to anyone else? Is there a setting somewhere I’m missing? It’s truly maddening to try and work with. Image attached with what I see, the text dialog box is completely covered by the keyboard… to view the image to be sent and the text input dialog box you her to either “collapse” the keyboard (lower far right key) or tap the message screen. Thoughts?

I believe that I have found the issue, and I'm curious to know if anyone else can duplicate it. The problem appears to be the new Stage Manager feature. If I turn Stage Manager OFF AND restart everything acts as normal before iPadOS 16.1-2, the image/website snaps above the keyboard giving full access to the space above or below the image to type (image attached). Interestingly with Stage Manager ON when you try and send an image or website they snap to being off center from the keyboard (to the left), with it off all images and websites snap centered on the keyboard in the middle of the screen. Perhaps I'm using Stage Manager wrong? If any once else can correct me I'd love to know. You cannot correct this issue (or return to making it do it again) without restarting your iPad each time FYI. Cheers.

This is the standard setting QUERTY keyboard for iPadOS by Apple. No other keyboards are installed, no add ons, nothing. I've tried other keyboards as well from the standard settings, all continue to function in this way. This is frustrating because it worked before iPadOS 16.1 I thought in 16.1 it was going to be corrected due to the nearly immediate roll back and replacement with 16.2 due to other feature issues. My wife's new iPad Air 9th Gen. running iPadOS 16.2 does not have this issue. All items always snap above the keyboard, regardless of orientation, including the text input field. Befuddled.

Hi spodonahue,

If you are not able to scroll the items above the keyboard to display the text entry field you need, there may be other solutions. See Use a split keyboard which covers the steps to split the keyboard, undock the keyboard, or use a floating keyboard. You may also ensure that none of those options are presently active and contributing to the behavior you're experiencing.

You may also be using a third-party keyboard based on the image shared. Try testing with the iPadOS keyboard by Add or change keyboards on iPad to see if this continues.

Regards.
