ITunes and Windows 11

My external speakers are not working with Windows 11. iTunes will only play through the laptop speakers and not the external speakers or headset.

Hi johnjbyrne623,

The following steps address what you're describing specifically, and should provide a solution:

  • "Use external speakers: Connect the speakers to your computer. iTunes plays through them and mutes the computer’s built-in speakers.
  • Use speakers connected to an AirPort Express, an Apple TV or another AirPlay-enabled device: In the iTunes app  on your PC, click the AirPlay button  at the top of the iTunes window, then select the tickbox next to the speakers you want to use.
  • You can select more than one tickbox to play music through multiple sources."

You can find these steps along with other information that may be helpful, here: Choose which speakers to use in iTunes on PC – Apple Support

If you have followed the steps correctly and you still have the issue, let us know if you get any specific alerts or error messages when trying, as those may help us determine what might be causing the issue.

We also recommend restarting your computer and keeping it updated as those steps assure you have cleared out any minor software issues and are running the most current version.

If you still have questions, reach out to Apple Support directly, as this may require closer guidance: Get Support

Cheers!
