itunes (v 12.12) will not switch my computer speakers from internal to externally connected headsets

I have the updated software version, I am using Windows 11, the internal speakers switch with other applications. Drivers are up to date with RealTek internal speakers. I see the Headphones listed and even when I manually switch the speakers, iTunes still plays with the speakers that were selected when I opened the application. Basically, if I need to switch speakers, I have to close iTunes, select the speakers and then open iTunes again. NOTE: When I use my external SONOS speakers, this does not occur - it uses the line in from SONOS perfectly. It seems to occur when I am using other speakers from the USB port or Bluetooth. Can you assist? Thank you for your assistance!

Windows, Windows 10

I think things are working as designed. iTunes plays out through whatever was selected as system audio output when it launched. You can try Feedback - iTunes - Apple.
