Stereo HomePod Minis disconnect.

I have two HomePod minis that are setup to play the audio from my Apple TV. When they work they are excellent. The only problem is that they are plagued by numerous issues. Before I state what the issues are I'll say that our wifi network is up to date with the latest xfinity router. We have near perfect internet. These HomePods will literally just break for no reason and each issue is different. One day the volume will get stuck where despite the volume being at the lowest setting it still plays sound. If I airplay my MacBook Pro Display to my Apple TV the HomePod minis will suddenly become unavailable for airplay later when I'm no longer mirroring my MacBook display. Sometimes one HomePod won't be controllable. The only fix I've found is unplugging them and plugging them back in but over the last few days it's gotten worse and more frequent. I've now had to reset them up for the umpteenth time and I'm getting tired of it. Apple seriously needs to do some work on how their products connect and talk to each other. If there's some sort of unforeseen fix that I'm perhaps overlooking I'm all ears. I'm convinced that this product is essentially trash and a waste of money. Something I thought I'd never say about an Apple product

I’ve had numerous issues as well and has made me wonder why I even have them plugged in. If I need to ask Siri 5 times to do something, what’s the point? Constantly resetting them, pulling them out of home app, factory reset etc etc etc. Believe me I’ve tried everything and I mean everything. It shouldn’t be this hard when my Alexa never needs to be rebooted or unplugged. Apple has seriously failed on these speaker and unfortunately at our expense. Have contacted Apple support more than you can imagine on this and they really are of no help as they dance around the problem making the consumer look like the problem when it’s poorly engineered product. They really need to get this fixed but I doubt it ever will.

Hi Brendomiryr,

We'd like to help give a suggestion to lead you on the best path to a solution. Looking over If HomePod mini or HomePod isn't responding would be the best troubleshooting steps since you mentioned having to unplug them often for there to be a temporary solution. With these steps done, the next best would be to contact Apple Support

I know you say your wifi is good but it still only takes a moment to reboot the router. This cleans any glitches on the line. HomePods are continuously communicating with wifi and attempting to reach the apple servers to sync your Apple ID settings and run AirPlay. HomePods don’t do well with Dual Bands either. Any time there’s a split second disconnect while it’s communicating to perform a task it will cause these issues.

For Apple TV or Mac, I’d advise Force quitting the misbehaving apps and doing System Restarts on those devices.

For Apple TV, you might also try signing out of your Apple ID in Settings - User accounts, Restart, then sign back in and reconnect AirPlay & HomeKit again. This will reset HomeKit on Apple TV
