windowserver high RAM usage

I have an IMAC (M1) with 16GB of RAM. I noticed that when I check with Activity Monitor the RAM usage of window server is approx. 1gb (in a standard usage situation, iMac almost idle), on the top of the list. This is not giving me problems but does not see normal. I went to a Dept. Store and checked what happens to the iMac on display there through Activity Monitor. And their behavior seems quite different.

Any opinions?

Thanks,

Maurizio

Welcome!

According to your EtreCheck report...

Top Processes Snapshot by Memory:
Process (count) RAM usage (Source - Location)
com.apple.WebKit.WebContent (10) 1.98 GB (Apple)
EtreCheckPro 1.01 GB (Etresoft, Inc.)
Dropbox (3) 336 MB (Dropbox, Inc.)
mds_stores 333 MB (Apple)
AdobeAcrobat 312 MB (Adobe Inc.)

Window Server isn't currently considered a "top process", i.e. it isn't using a large amount of Memory.

If you could upload a screenshot from Activity Monitor of what you see, that'd be helpful.
