New mac mini m2 shows memory usage of around 8gb ram even if i have no open applications

Here is my M2 Mac mini Pro (32 GB) running Ventura 13.3.1 (a) with no applications running except Activity Monitor:

and here it is with this discussions page loaded in Safari 16.4, again with no other user space applications running than Activity Monitor. The Safari cache and history were cleared before this browser session:

What you show would appear to be normal RAM consumption.

I can't speak directly to the memory use of the Mx systems (I don't have one, yet), but I will say that your Memory Pressure is low in this screenshot, and does not appear to be under any stress whatsoever. I dare say this is normal and of little concern.

If I'm wrong, I'm sure we'll hear about it from others before long.
