Completing share invite for health data from iWatch/iPhone

I got my 96 yr old mom an iWatch to monitor her health. Her iWatch and iPhone are working together. I added her as a family member to my AppleID. On her iPhone I requested to share health data with me. It says sharing data. On my iPhone, it says “no one is sharing data with you”. I received no invite to respond to. What do I do to solve this problem?

Hi johnfromleverett,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! Here are the requirements to share data that can help:

Share and view health data in the Health app

Here's what you need
An iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 15 or later is required to share your health data.
An iPhone with iOS 16 or later is required to invite someone to share health data.
An iCloud account with Health turned on and two-factor authentication enabled.
The person you want to start sharing with must be saved in your Contacts with their iCloud account email included.*

Share your health data with someone
1. On your iPhone, open the Health app.
2. Tap the Sharing tab, then tap Share with Someone. Make sure that Health is turned on in your iCloud account.
3. Search for a contact to share with. A name in blue indicates that the other person’s device supports sharing. Gray means their device does not support sharing.
4. Tap See Suggested Topics or Set Up Manually.
5. Choose the data you want to share.
6. Tap Share, then tap Done.
The person that you selected will receive an invitation to begin viewing health data.

Hope this helps!

Have a great day.

Hello johnfromleverett,

If you have an Apple ID, you already have an iCloud account. It does not need to be an "@iCloud" address.

You can confirm this part of the setup, "An iCloud account with Health turned on and two-factor authentication enabled.", by following these steps:

  1. Tap on Settings > [your name]
  2. Tap iCloud
  3. Tap Show All
  4. Confirm that Health show "On"

Rest easy. You do not need to change that Apple ID address that is attached to so many things.

Work through the steps provided above, and you should be able to see the information you are looking for.

Have a good day.

Thanks for your reply. If I understand you correctly, I need to have an iCloud email account, and/or my mom does. Both of us have Apple IDs that are not iCloud email accounts. When I tried to creat an iCloud email account, my understanding is that I would have to use it to replace my AppleID. That ID is on a plethora of devices and would be a pain to replace. Is that my choice?
