2022 Mac Book Pro Crashes everytime it goes to sleep - Ventura 13.1

My MBP crashes every time I wake it up from sleep and says "Your computer was restarted because of a problem"

--

The lid of my MBP is closed and it is connected to an external monitor with an Insignia USB-C to DP cable.

Also connected is a Apollo Twin Duo in another USB-C port.

---

I am running Ventura 13.1

This MBP is about 1 month old and it has been having this crash issue since I got it.

Hey CJF713,

Thanks for that information. It seems like you have isolated the issue to the connected 3rd party peripherals. We would recommend you use this article to help troubleshoot the issue.

  1. "Shut down your Mac.
  2. Disconnect all peripheral devices, such as hard drives or printers. If you have a desktop Mac, make sure that only a display, keyboard, and mouse or trackpad are connected.
  3. Turn on your Mac.
  4. Use your Mac for the amount of time that it would usually take for an unexpected restart to occur.
  5. If an unexpected restart occurs, follow the steps to check the internal RAM and third-party hardware.
  6. If an unexpected restart doesn't occur, turn off the Mac and connect one peripheral device at a time until an unexpected restart occurs."

Thanks for your reply.

The issue is still happening, but less frequently now, as opposed to everytime the MBP went to sleep.

I will try to see if I can isolate the issue to a specific external peripheral.

Does the crash log contain information that would point me to a specific driver, or third-party device/software that is causing the issue?

Hi CJF713,

I also have the same issue, I have a Mac Mini with M1, I got it past year, and since then it crashes everytime it goes to sleep... It doesn't crash inmediately when it goes to sleep, It suddenly happens when the Mac mini has been sleeping for maybe 15 minutes long or more...

It happened with macOS Big Sur and even so Monterrey, Today I'm trying Ventura.

The thing here is that Mac Mini must have an external monitor.

Have you fixed your problem?

Regards.

Thanks - The issue is still happening but less frequently.

I am also using a TESmart DP KVM Switch to toggle between my Windows machine and the MBP. When I switch to the Windows machine and back to the MBP its an almost 100% guarantee the MBP will crash.

Still appears to be a major issue with the 2022 M1 Pro MBP and Ventura 13.1 when connecting to an external monitor via an Insignia USB C- DP cable when the laptop is closed. I have seen a lot of other reports of this on the forums here, unfortunately.

Ill follow the "Get Support" Link and see if I can resolve the issue...
