Installed new router and airport utility can no longer see air express

I had been using Air Express to stream music to a sound system for several years. Recently I replaced the old router with an ASUS router. Everything in wifi network (iPhones, iPads, Apple TV) is working except for Air Express. I've reset the Express to factory settings. Express's amber light is blinking which I believe means the Express needs attention. But the Express never shows up on Air Utility. The router is set for both WPA and WPA2 authentication (Express can only do WPA) and I've disabled WiFi 6 mode.

What else should I check that could be preventing Air Utility from finding the Express?

OK, thanks.

Go to Settings

Tap on WiFi

Look for a listing of Set Up New AirPort Base Station

Tap on AirPort Express xxxxx

Follow the prompts to set up the Express to join the WiFi network provided by your new router

For what it's worth, the model of AirPort Express that you have is capable of WPA/WPA2 security settings. Hopefully, the Express will join the network using WPA2, which is much more secure than WPA only.

Which model of AirPort Express do you have? We ask because the newer versions of AirPort Utility will not support older models of the AirPort Express like A1084 and A1088.

Please look on the side of the AirPort Express to locate the model number. It is hard to see, with gray lettering on a white background so you may need good lighting and/or reading glasses to see the model number.

Please post back with your results, so we will know which road to take at the next intersection.
