Troubleshooting Overheating Mac:


Use the Activity Monitor:

See what it taking the most out of the CPU. Is it Google Chrome? Or is is something else? To Find Out, use Activity Monitor

  1. Go to: Applications
  2. Select: Utilities folder
  3. Open: Activity Monitor
  4. Click: Memory column

The MacBook Air 2017 has a fan and it could quite possibly be clogged with dust as well as the air intakes. In roughly six years, it could amass quite a bit of crud.


If you are not very handy with dealing with small screws and electronic devices, the safest thing would be to take it to an Apple Authorized Service Provider and have them take a look at it.
