I know that at least two people have asked before (with over 600 - me toos), but I am going to ask again because the current responses literally avoid answering the question!!! WHY DOES THE APPLE VERIFICATION CODE DISAPPEAR SO FAST, AND HOW CAN I STOP IT FROM DOING THIS ANNOYING BEHAVIOR? IT IS LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO TYPE MORE THAN TWO OF THE SIX DIGITS IN BEFORE IT DISAPPEARS

Are you receiving the code on the same device or on another trusted device?
If I have to type in the code for the Two Factor Authentication on my Mac, I receive it on my iPhone and can type it in ,until I tap on "OK" right under the code shown.
You could also try to take a screenshot and typ it in after bringing up the screenshot.
Or you can choose to get a SMS sent to you, or even a phone call:

In this case it was the same device. But you sort of avoid the elephant in the room - why does it disappear so fast? I cannot see any benefit at all in showing someone a 6 digit code for so short a time they cannot even read it. It makers the functionality zero. It makes no sense at all.
For security reasons, you are supposed to use a different device to receive the code.
Otherwise it would be easy to get access, if the person in front of your Mac is not you.
