iOS16 Focus/Home screen problems
I've been using different, scheduled Focus modes around the clock for at least 6 months to manage my notifications.
I updated to iOS16 during scheduled "Personal" focus a few weeks ago. Well, as soon as personal focus turned off, my entire home screen depopulated. Totally empty. I could not figure out what was going on until I guessed at turning on my personal focus and...apps returned!
So I tried to suss out the issue and resolve it by taking a screenshot and painstakingly duplicating my personal focus home screen and that resolved the immediate issue. I realized at this point that you could attach lock/home screens to each focus, but had no way of creating specific lock/home combos. Further, various "Focus" settings kept more or less hijacking the home screen layout if I was dumb enough to try to move an app or--God forbid--change my wallpaper with the focus still turned on.
Eventually, I learned that a lock/home screen can only be coupled to one focus, and so mby foolishly interacting with my display settings while in any focus, I was inexorably linking that lock/home combo to the current focus, erasing the layout from access in any other focus mode.
And then, last night, I (stupidly) decided to try to create a new, very paired down lock and home screen for my "Class" focus...and now that home screen, created with "Class" turned on, has become my default home screen even when the "Class" focus turns off, just with different wallpaper. The "normal" home layout attached only to "Personal" once again (and some other layout that I somehow found a way to create appearing for the other focus modes I use).
I just had to go and manually restore all of the apps, and in the process inadvertently deleted the layout I designed for my "Class" focus.
I learned through Reddit that I'm supposed to be given an option to create specific layouts within the Focus setting, but that option isn't available for me, only "choose." I also still seem unable to fully decouple lock/home screens from Focus modes, no matter under what circumstance the layout is created, plus I don't have a way of easily selecting a "default" layout from a list of options like the ones presented in the Focus setting.
I'm running the most recent software (iOS16.2) and still having this issue.l How do I just get my home screen back??
