15 inch Macbook Pro (Late 2016) display backlight goes away

The display backlight on my 15 inch Macbook Pro (Late 2016) goes away when I open the lid beyond 60 degrees. At 45 degrees I get the stagelight effect. I see Apple has a service program for the 13 inch Macbook Pro, but not the 15 inch model. Although both models have the same hardware defect.

Is Apple going to introduce a service program for the 15 inch model??

This is a user to user Community support— no one here can answer that question...however

the fact the the 15" MacBook Pro has never fallen under the Service program, coupled with the fact the 2016 is 7 years old— I would not hold my breath.
