It’s stuck after encrypting

Encrypted Hard Drive I was given a 27” Mac by a relative and so erased the Hard Drive. But used the encrypted option, because I have an encrypted Time Machine back-up. Thinking it wouldn’t load if the new Mac wasn’t similar. However, when I try to install from the Time Machine it says I cant use the Hard Drive because it’s locked. So I tried to erase the Hard Drive and install a fresh OS onto an un-encrypted hard drive. It starts the process, but just get’s stuck. At a complete loss on what to do, can someone help me please?

Macbook stuck on Boot selection This morning my MacBook was stuck on startup manager. If i select Bootcamp (windows) it loads up normally, but if i select Macintosh HD then my MacBook won't start and it just gets into a loop where it keeps asking for my password to unlock the encrypted disk.

Cannot reinstall macOIS Sierra I have a 2017 MacBook Pro and wanted to reset my laptop. I went via disk utility as erase content settings was frozen to me. I followed apple instructions to reset format the disc and install macOS Sierra, but when I go through the install it fails every time. This has happened at least 6 /7times now. Any advice please?

Based on Personal Experience:

I took me 30 days to encrypt a hard drive of 1 TB in size. So, based off of that, do some math, and see how long it can take.

actually it was done. Looks like I just had to restart again 🤷🏼‍♂️ imagine that 😂

Are you sure it's finished encrypting?

It can take ages!
