Hey there acatric,

This does sound like unexpected behavior, and we'd like to help. To start, we'd like to rule out some general possible causes, along with confirming more details to better understand the issue occurring:

  1. When did this first start?
  2. Do you recall what you were doing on your iPhone right before this began to occur?
  3. Sometimes unexpected behavior can be resolved with a restart: Restart your iPhone Afterwards, we also recommend restarting the devices your kids use.
  4. We see you're using an iPhone 13 Pro with iOS 16, but the latest version would be iOS 16.2. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. In case you needed it, this link shows how to first back up, then Update your iPhone or iPad.
  5. If your kids are using an iPhone/iPad models which are compatible, the latest versions are iOS/iPadOS 16.2. Are these the versions installed on their devices if you check the same way as on your own iPhone?

Cheers!

I briefly thought the issue had resolved itself once I updated both mine and her OS, but then it is like it gets worse. For me, if I open the screen time settings on my phone the original restrictions I set will sometimes refresh and *magically* reappear, and it will lock her out. Other times I have to add them all back in. It’s ridiculous. Where else do we go to complain?

Restart the phone?… smh

lol it seems all of the responses given are answers from 2007 or something.

Have you tried:

closing and reopening the app?? :0

restarting the device?? :00

how about deleting the app and reinstalling it again ?? :000

signing out and then back in again?…??

No, not yet. Does that work sometimes??….. :/

Not hating on you trying to help, but every answer on any thread gives the same general advice for years and years.

Correct. I have tried all those things. I do understand how you can clear a cache or anything that might be releasing those settings, but it seems that the settings are not retained to the account. The problem intermittently reproduces itself. As an exhausted parent who is even here on this chat and taking the time out to set screen time hours by the app, when every week down to 2 days to try logging out and logging back in, restarting, deleting apps, you just reach a point where you say, to **** with it. Take the phone away after 2 hours and enforce by absence of phone.
