MacOS keeps rearranging displays or not connecting to display

I have been disappointed in how often I have to climb under my desk and unplug monitor display cables then plug them back in to get the display to connect and show my desktop. Even worse, when I wake the Mac Studio Ultra up from sleeping it just randomizes the display settings so they are backward. I then have to go into settings each time and put them in the proper location. As you can tell this gets really old really fast. Is there any way to save the display layout and keep it in the same spot! I sure hope someone knows the answer to this.

I am running the latest OS. Ventura 13.0.1

Thanks much for any help.

(Note: I have turned off Mission Control as some suggested in other locations. That does nothing).

Hello!! I am having this exact issue. Almost every time I log in from a restart or a shut down, the arrangement of my screens keep flipping. I was using a Mac mini m1 prior to this and never had the issue. The cables are the same ones I was using on the mini. I have also entertained the request above and have found nothing wrong with the cables I am using. Oddly, the flipping of locations only happens between monitors 1 and 2. However, the icons that are normally on my desktop on monitor 3, end up on monitor 1. All examples are from left to right display arrangement (1 being left, 2 middle, and 3 right). Monitor 1 is connected using an hdmi cable and the other two use an hdmi (display side) to usb-c (Mac side) cable. I am running on the latest update for MacOS as of today.

Hey Rytecno,

Do you have extra cables you can test out? We want to make sure the issue isn't coming from the cable itself. If you do, test that out for us and let us know the results.

You can also check out some helpful tips and list of cables you can use for your display from the user guide here: Connect a display to Mac Studio

One of the steps of checking your cables can also be found on the article here: If your external display isn't detected or appears blurry when connected to your Mac

We recommend that you follow some additional steps that are provided from that article as well.

Let us know how it goes!

Best regards.
