Control TVs and Receivers stopped working

Control TVs and Receivers stopped working and my remote no longer turns tv and receiver on/off and volume stopped working. Option is now grayed out. I have an Apple TV 4K that was just replaced yesterday problem still exist. I have a Samsung TV and a Yamaha receiver. CEC is turned on on the TV and the receiver, but the remote no longer turns the TV and receiver on or off. I have checked the firmware and all devices they are up-to-date. I have tested HDMI cables and I’ve swapped them out for new ones and the problem is still there. The set up worked fine for years - I’m suspicious. Suspicious it’s related to a software update on the AppleTV.

i’ve spent several hours with Apple support the phone and no luck.
