Problem with iPhone XS Max and airpods pro 2

I have the SAME problem! iPhone XS Max, AirPod pro 2s & it’s about 18 seconds before my headphones will work with an incoming call. I’ve spent hours working with support and they can’t figure out the problem. Im so glad I found this post because I thought my Bluetooth was broken or my settings were messed up somewhere. I take calls alllll day long at work with AirPods and since getting my pro 2s it’s been a nightmare. Where do we go from here?

If resetting your AirPods doesn't seem to have improved this at all, you'll want to reach out to Apple Support to look in to this further and see what may be happening and what options you have.

I just changed AirPods Pro Settings > Automatic Ear Detection to OFF and the issue did not occur. For those who are still having problems, does changing Automatic Ear Detection to OFF resolve the issue for anyone else?

Seems to be a specific issue to iPhone XS users.
