Laggy Mouse on M1 Mac Mini

Occasionally, the mouse on my M1 Mac Mini lags. I'm using a wired mouse plugged into the on-device USB port. I've observed this with two mice, a Kensington M01307 and a Microsoft X05-87475, both are trackballs.

Mac mini, macOS 13.0
