iPhone Apple Maps doesn't find name/address in Contacts

I recently noticed that Apple Maps does not find a defined contact and address when Searching for the name. Instead it returns Web based searches for names that barely match. This happens on different iPhone models as well. both voice and keyboard commands operate this way.

iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 15

Hello Brandon_j_321,

My iPhone IOS is current. I have an iPhone 7S. My wife has an iPhone 11 with current IOS and it performs the same as mine. It happens with all entries in Contacts.

It just starting happening maybe a week ago. My Contact entries are correct.

Here’s a detailed description:

I open Maps.

In the search field I enter the Contacts First-Name Last-Name.

”No results found” message is returned.

Selecting the option to Edit Search, the name I wanted appears with its address as a possible search option.

once I select it, the correct name and address is found.

I hope that helps explain what is happening.

Hello FacciaBrut,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

It sounds like you've noticed a contact address isn't returning the correct results when you tap it to get directions, right?

If we have that correct, let's first check that you have the latest iOS version installed on your device. If an update is available, be sure to complete a backup of your device before installing the update. For assistance with backing up or updating, check out this resource: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If you have the latest iOS version installed on your iPhone, check that the address entered matches what is shown when you search in the Maps app. If the address is saved differently in the contact, that could be why you're seeing this occur. For assistance with editing a contact on your iPhone, check out the steps below. These steps can also be locate here: Edit contacts on iPhone - Apple Support

In the Contacts app , assign a photo to a contact, add a pronunciation, change a label, add a birthday, and more to your contacts.

1. Tap a contact, then tap Edit.

2. Enter or update their contact information.

3. When you’re finished, tap Done.

We hope that's able to help. If not, provide more details on if this occurs with all contacts, or specific contacts. In addition, let us know which iOS version you're using and provide any additional details that could be helpful. We'll use this information to gain a better understanding to provide you with the best next steps to take.

Have a great day!
