Font Book Installation question

Is there a way to install fonts directly into a collection instead of having install them first in the library and then drag them into a collection? I would love to be able to simply drag fonts from my desktop into a collection, but that doesn't seem to work. They automatically go into the font library and then I have to drag them into a collection. I've got the fonts I want to install categorized on my desktop and it would be so easy for me to simply select all the fonts in a certain category and drag them directly into a collection that I created in Font Book. Is there a way to do this?

Rather than a collection you can create a new Font Library and drag your fonts into it.
