FaceTime Video Issue

When I FaceTime my sister, I can see her, but she can't see me. This started happening after the last major iPhone update. How can we fix this issue?

Hi UxbridgeGirl,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having an issue with using FaceTime with your sister. She cannot see you and we want to help you get this resolved.

Does this issue only happen when connecting with your sister? Does it happen on all networks or just a specific one? Do you have more than one device with FaceTime? If so, does the same thing happen on another device?

A quick thing to check on both devices is to see if you're both running the most updated iOS. Follow these steps on both devices are updated:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Click General
  3. Click Software Update.

If there is an update available, please backup your iPhone and then update:

Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly
1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
The Settings app on iPhone showing options to update to iOS 15.7 or iOS 16.

5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

Let us know if that helps and we'll continue on from here.

Take care!
