iPadOS 16 extended display is missing arrangement option

Currently the second display shows up and mirrors content from the iPad. in the Display & Brightness settings the second monitor shows up, but there is no "arrangements" option below the displays. How do I get this option so that I can extend content rather than mirror?

Same issue here. I’ve fully updated to 16.2, but can only mirror content on my personal monitors. My current theory is that it’s a very monitor dependent feature, because it works perfectly when I plug in to my spouse’s nearly brand new HP monitor. I’ve tried multiple cables and USB-C hubs, but nothing works for me.

Ensure that you have updated your iPad to iPadOS 16.2.

For iPadOS 16.1/16.1.1, Stage Manager was not available for external monitors - and was limited to basic screen mirroring. With release of iPadOS 16.2, full Stage Manager support is now available.

You can find information about Stage Manager in the iPad User Guide:

Turn Stage Manager on or off on your iPad - Apple Support

Move, resize, and organize windows with Stage Manager on iPad - Apple Support
