New iPad Pro (6th gen), iPadOS 16.1 - will not Extend display with Studio Display

Trying to connect iPad Pro to Studio Monitor - only option is to mirror my iPad display. I also have a Mac Air (M2) - can extend the display perfectly. But iPad will only Mirror. Looking at articles /videos online, the iPad settings are supposed to show arrangement options but not available.

Anyone else experiencing this? How to get around it?

And yes I've unplugged the Studio Display, turned off the iPad etc.

While Stage Manager has been launched with release of iPadOS 16.1, this feature does not yet support external displays. This feature is promised for a future release.

In the meantime, Screen Mirroring remains available.

Apple has not, as yet, officially added external monitor support to the new iPadOS 16 Stage Manager feature.

Look for Apple to, officially, release the extended monitor support, to the iPadOS 16 Stage Manager feature, in a future iPadOS 16 update.
